I have been blogging about the HOT color this year “Orange” and I came across this picture and had to share it with my readers. 

What a delicious pairing of chocolate brown and orange to create this decadent visual treat in this modern bedroom.   In this room the designer stair-stepped the walls to carve out a niche for the bed and separated the sleeping area from the rest of the suite.

Trendy Pillow Shams

Often pillow shams are washable, while decorative pillows usually don’t always feature washable covers.

Additionally, unlike a decorative pillow, you can replace the pillow inside when it gets worn out without having to search for another decorative pillow that matches your bed.  The pillow sham cover will remain the same, but a new, more comfortable pillow inside will bring life back to your bed.  This is definitely a convenient feature to the pillow sham.

Trendy Care for Down!

How do I care for my new down comforter?

You just made this investment on a Goose Down Comforter and you want to protect your investment.

First, when you unpack your down comforter that you just received from The Trendy Bed,  it may appear wrinkled and flat.  You can restore the natural loft by vigorously shaking or fluffing in your dryer on LOW…

You can air your new comforter OUT of direct sunlight for a day or two before using it for the first time, and every 3 to 6 months thereafter.  (Draping it across a clothes line under my back yard patio, out of the direct sun is the best way I have found to do this.)

With proper care, your down comforter will give you years of comfort.  A comforter cover (Duvet Cover) will extend its life even more.

Comforter Cleaning:  The Trendy Bed recommends to have your down comforter professionally dry cleaned.

Trendy Tips on Down Comforters!

Why Down?  The down clusters are made up of light, fluffy filaments that expand and intertwine to form air pockets.  These cluster trap air, nature’s most effective insulator, that’s what makes down so warm and light weight.  Down also breathes, so it naturally regulates warmth and wicks away moisture.  Most synthetics trap the body heat and moisture so you may wake up feeling clammy.

What is Fill Power?   All down is NOT the same. Down from larger, mature birds offer more insulating power and a better ability to loft.   The higher the fill power, the better the insulating ability of the down and more warmth with much less weight.  So, when you are comparing down comforters, fill power is a good measurement.

Good:  500 to 550 Fill Power will provide soft, light warmth. (Down not necessary from Goose)

Best:  600 to 650 Fill Power Goose Down of higher quality goose down with plump and resilient down clusters.  Will provide exceptional loft and warmth.

Supreme:  600 to 650 Fill Power Hungarian White Goose down, outstanding white goose down with the largest, most resilient clusters.  Down provides maximum warmth with minimal weight.

Ultimate:  700 to 800 Fill Power Hungarian White Goose down, out most luxurious down from selected cold climate geese.  This comforter will provide the warmest level with the lightest weight.
