Why The Trendy Home?

Hello, my name is Cathy Campbell; I reside in Southern California, originally from Pennsylvania.  I came out to California when I was 23 years old when I worked for a Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturer.  I designed kitchens and sold cabinets to the old Wicks Lumber stores and Builders Emporium lumber stores.  (OK, showing my age!)   See, I liked having my fingers in designing back then.

I’m going to go back further to my childhood, my Father’s family had a textile mill in Pennsylvania (York) and my father worked there all his life.  He raised seven children and I was number five.  Every Saturday morning my Father took me to my music lessons (yes, I played the organ) and when my lesson was done we would go to the “plant”.  My Dad would go into his office and I, and sometimes my older sister, would go exploring.  This was a big deal and at the end my Father would let us buy something out of the vending machines.   We would walk around looking at those big machines, the cones of colored thread hanging all over the place and even sometimes they would be running if they had a big order to fill.    I guess I’ve come full circle… back to textile… I guess I always was a Daddy’s girl.

I am a Daughter, a Sister, a Mother, a Mom, and a Wife, I am just like you!   I do not have a degree in design.  I have what I call “Champagne Taste and a beer, or I like to say “Wine” pocketbook”.   I enjoy making a nice, relaxing home for my family, just like you!

I have two sons:  Matthew and Michael and one Daughter-In-Law, Lindsey.  No grandchildren yet!  I am married to Doug and we are going on 19 years this year.   Since I don’t have grandchildren, I have the four legged babies.  2 Yorkies (Katie and Kobe), 1 Maltese (Kasey) and 1 Maltepoo (Kiki).  They usually lay in their beds in my office, under my desk, while I’m working.

OK, so why The Trendy Home?

The Trendy Home gives me the opportunity to bring you more than just bedding.    In 2010 we will introduce The Trendy Bath, so stay tuned.   Egyptian cotton towels, beach towels, bathrobes, shower curtains, and matching bathroom accessories and more.  This also gives us the opportunity to look at every room in our home, even the outdoors and making that space Trendy too.

I will be sharing those “ What’s New” decorator tips that we all love to try;  and a “Do It Your Self” section that just might light your spark to go and paint a piece of furniture.  We all need to be reminded of those “Keeping It New”  maintenance tips around the house; we will work on those “Honey Do Lists” without overloading our Honey!

I am so looking forward to sharing this site with you, my readers, growing together, and being a small part of making their home into “The Trendy Home”.
