<p>Knowing how to measure correctly can be a challenge.  The right measurements can make all the difference when it comes to getting the perfect bedding set.  Here are some helpful tips on measuring for your bed skirt.</p>
<p>Remember that bed skirts are designed to fit the box spring, not the mattress.</p>
<p>Measure your box spring to make sure it conforms to a conventional size.   (Use a fabric measuring tape and measure the box spring from the left edge to the right edge &#8211; this is your box spring width.   Measure the box spring from the head of the bed to the foot of the bed &#8211; this is your box spring length.)   Please see chart to verify your <a title="Bed Size Chart @ The Trendy Bed" href="http://www.thetrendybed.com/bed_sizes_color_charts_and_information" target="_blank">bed size.</a></p>
<p>To order a bed skirt, you will need the drop measurement, which is the length from the floor to the top of the box spring.  (take into consideration your floor type;  hard surface, carpet, throw rug, etc.)</p>
<div id="attachment_394" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 509px"><a title="How to Measure your drop of a bed skirt" href="http://thetrendyhome.com/files/2009/02/measure_bedskirt1.jpg"><img class="size-full wp-image-394 " src="http://thetrendyhome.com/files/2009/02/measure_bedskirt1.jpg" alt="Measure for bedskirt" width="499" height="386" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Measure for bedskirt</p></div>
<p>Standard drop length is 14&#8243; inches but at <a href="http://www.thetrendybed.com" target="_blank">The Trendy Bed.com </a>we also carry 18&#8243; and 21&#8243; inch drop for your shopping convenience.</p>
<p><em>When ordering your bed skirt:</em></p>
<p>Do you need your bed skirt with split corners or without split corners?   If you have a foot board (like the top picture above) you will need to order, or make sure your bed skirt comes with split corners to accommodate the frame.    If your bed does not have a foot board you can accommodate a bed skirt with/out split corners.  (See picture below)</p>
<div id="attachment_395" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 394px"><a title="Bed Skirt with out split corners - solid." href="http://thetrendyhome.com/files/2009/02/200-skirt-ruffles-no-split-corners.jpg"><img class="size-full wp-image-395 " src="http://thetrendyhome.com/files/2009/02/200-skirt-ruffles-no-split-corners.jpg" alt="Bed skirt with/out split corners" width="384" height="288" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Bed skirt with/out split corners</p></div>
<p><strong>Tip!</strong> In order to shorten any length for a custom fit drop, simply get the next size larger and tuck the skirt up with our<a title="Bed Skirt Pins @ The Trendy Bed" href="http://www.thetrendybed.com/product/stay-tidy-bed-skirt-pins-TBSTAYTIDGY12" target="_blank"> Stay Tidy Bed Skirt Pins</a> to create the perfect drop length.</p>
